DIVINE LIGHT BY ROSENKRANTZ

You can only be helpful to your Self, God, others and the world, to the degree that you are prepared to Love your Self and be your Self. This is not the ego self, but the Holy Self. Most of us were not raised to be our Self though. We were brought up to believe that we are separate identities and incomplete ones at that. Being raised by our parents’ mistaken identities and educated by the world ego, the Holy Self as the Truth within, was rarely if ever seen, let alone acknowledged and encouraged.

The greater majority of us were mistakenly taught not to trust ourselves. We were not encouraged to seek out the small, still Voice within. Rather, we were trained to seek outside ourselves for approval and completion in relationships and accomplishments. But at the time, we had no idea the cost of learning to distrust our Self. If we lack (Holy) Self-trust, then we will not be capable of trusting others and the world. In fact because we don’t trust our Self, we project that distrust onto others and the world–and they will respond as we request; they will abandon and betray us. Recall that the un-relinquished ego uses others to attack us. This is what unconscious guilt (self-hatred) does. And that is why in true forgiveness, we never forgive another. Instead we forgive ourselves for using another to attack us. No one could hurt us if we had not unconsciously requested it of them. When we look to others and the world, we will perceive that which we feel within.

“What would you see? The choice is given you. But learn and do not let your mind forget this law of seeing: You will look upon that which you feel within.” W-189.5:1-3

The essence of our true desire, the underlying longing that hides beneath everything we do, is Love. But through the ego, we end up chasing our tail because the ego’s mantra is “seek but do not find.” So the necessary prerequisite to finding Love is to undo the blocks to our awareness of its presence; as the one Holy Self. Love is the Center of our Being. It is the nature of our Holy Self. However we’ve been so utterly brain washed with fear that we may not know it yet.

We must learn to  initiate a primary Loving relationship with our Self, before real Love can be experienced. With Spirit, we forgive ourselves for using others, the body and the world to attack us. In forgiveness we reunite with our true Identity. And it is through giving forgiveness that we will recognize our Holy Self.

“By supplying your Identity wherever It is not recognized, you will recognize It.” T-14.X.12:7

Our world and all our relationships are mirrors of our own level of Self-Love. We cannot be abandoned or betrayed unless we first have unconsciously abandoned or betrayed our Self. We must learn to be our own best friend. But we cannot do this while we continue to give the ego in our mind, authority through fear and guilt. It means being willing to show-up for ourselves, to be present especially when we appear to feel threatened by self-judgment, by others or situations. How do we abandon ourselves? Do we go on the defensive? Do we attack? Or do we retreat and people-please instead? All these responses represent our own methods of self-attack. Not one is Loving. The Loving thing to do is to show-up for your Self by asking Spirit to reveal to you how to perceive this differently.

How on earth can you be Loving, trusting and faithful to others if you can’t extend these qualities to yourself? And how can you possibly receive the Love you so desire if you’re not able to receive it from your Holy Self? Are you able to be true to your Self? Are you honest, patient, supportive, encouraging, unconditional, nurturing and trusting of your Self? The ego will always fill your mind with criticism, but will you choose to disbelieve it? Are you willing to drop guilt-trips, shame, self-punishment and worry? While you take on the personal responsibility of worry, you unknowingly reject Spirit’s help. Do you take responsibility for everyone and everything? Are you a control freak? If so, this is the ego substituting itself in place of divine trust in Spirit as your Holy Self.

Are you comfortable with spending time alone with your Self? If you feel alone, it’s because you don’t yet know and trust your Self. If you did, you could never feel alone. Can you drop within to the quiet inner space of your Holy Self? And do you feel safe enough to reveal your deepest, darkest fears here?

What is your inner dialogue like? While you listen to the voice of fear and doubt (ego), you will not hear Spirit’s Voice within. There are two voices or senses, the ego and Spirit. We can learn to discern between them both. But we really need to learn to say “no” to the ego. It is a continual stream of thoughts and beliefs based on fear and deprivation. We have the means to decide which of these thoughts to believe.

True Desire

True desire is God’s Will flowing effortlessly from within and there will be no guilt behind it. It does not emerge from fear or doubt. It arises from Love and trust and calls to itself within the seeming world. In its extension it returns as Love albeit often in a form we can recognize. Because true desire issues from our divinity within, Holiness is its intent.  From my own experience, true desire is an expression of Love. It is the hidden essence that we’re all seeking, however it cannot be discovered and fulfilled while it remains heavily concealed under the ego’s substitutes for Love and trust.

True desire is part of God’s Will which expresses itself through us here in the dream. Without it we could not approach the undoing of fear that necessarily precedes awakening to our Holy Self. This desire seems to morph as we develop trust in Spirit via getting to know and trust our Holy Self. At first our desires are clouded by the ego’s obsession with deprivation. It sees us as incomplete and attempts its endless search for relationships, experiences and accomplishments to fill the bottomless pit of unworthiness that it believes we are. Desires that emerge from this sense of deprivation are propelled by fear and not by Love.

As fear and doubt fall away and trust in Spirit within deepens, there is a palpable sense of inner security and Love that bubbles up inside of us. While it may wane here and there, once we experience this inner strength, we will never completely believe the ego again. From this growing sense of inner peace and Love, springs a feeling of unmistakable joy. It’s the kind of joy that wells up from within. And often it is this joy that sparks true desire. There is an in built secure sense that our desire is in sync with God’s. There is no lack beneath our desire. This is not like ego desire, where we secretly believe that we are alone, as we guiltily hoard and attempt to fulfill our desires apart from God. True desire is guiltless. We intuit that it is an extension of God’s Will flowing through us. As such true desire is never hooked into an outcome. Because there is no guilt attached to it, we feel confident that our desire and God’s Will are one; they are not in conflict. And it’s from this inner security that we can afford to await our desire’s fulfillment without anxiety. Patience is natural when we know without a doubt that our happiness is God’s Will.

As an expression of God’s Love through us, true desire is unselfish. It wishes to extend, to share. As fear falls away, we grow in the awareness and embodiment of our Holy Self. Here we discover that all our needs are met effortlessly. When we know our needs are always met, we rest in gratitude much of the time. And from this deep sense of inner gratitude, it flourishes into the desire to be of service. Our desires shift from getting to giving. The Love within cannot be contained. It must be shared. In this awareness we understand completely Jesus’ teaching; that giving is receiving. What we give…we keep. The way to keep something is to give it away. And the cost of giving is always receiving.

Spirit already knows what our deepest desire is. But through the ego we are afraid of it. That is why so many of us do not yet know or trust our Holy Self. Because if we did, we would recognize the same Holy Self in every other human being. The Holy Self is the one light within us all that lights up the world.

Spirit knows the essence of our greatest desire and is eager to help us embrace it. This is all Spirit wants to do–to return to us the awareness of our pristine innocence; and the majesty of our one Holy Self as Love with no opposite. We believe we lost this, but it is here and now, in any instant we truly desire to join with Love. If you’d like perhaps you could set aside a few moments to contemplate this deeper desire to unite as your Holy Self. If Love is all there is, and Love is all you desire…then are you willing to receive it with every fiber of your being? Remember that in this world God’s Love is most often expressed as healing and joining. Here is a short prayer that is especially powerful when you feel relaxed and receptive:

“I join wholeheartedly with all that God Lovingly wills for me. And I accept wholeheartedly all that God Lovingly wills for me. This is God’s Will. Amen.”

” I am the light of the world. That is my only function. That is why I am here.” W-61.5:3-5

“Who is the light of the world except God’s Son? This, then, is merely a statement of the truth about yourself. It is the opposite of a statement of pride, of arrogance, or of self-deception. It does not describe the self-concept you have made. It does not refer to any of the characteristics with which you have endowed your idols. It refers to you as you were created by God. It simply states the truth.” W-61.1.

“To the ego, today’s idea is the epitome of self-glorification. But the ego does not understand humility, mistaking it for self-debasement. Humility consists of accepting your role in salvation and in taking no other. It is not humility to insist you cannot be the light of the world if that is the function God assigned to you. It is only arrogance that would assert this function cannot be for you, and arrogance is always of the ego.” W-61.2.

“True humility requires that you accept today’s idea because it is God’s Voice which tells you it is true. This is a beginning step in accepting your real function on earth. It is a giant stride toward taking your rightful place in salvation. It is a positive assertion of your right to be saved, and an acknowledgment of the power that is given you to save others.” W-61.3.

“Today we will claim the miracles which are your right, since they belong to you. You have been promised full release from the world you made. You have been assured that the Kingdom of God is within you, and can never be lost. We ask no more than what belongs to us in truth. Today, however, we will also make sure that we will not content ourselves with less.” W-77.3.
