This excerpt along with the powerfully transformative exercise featured at its conclusion,  is about the miraculous “piece” which is literally, our missing peace. If we only knew how invaluable this peace is, then we would surrender all for it, and having found it, we would vow never to lose it again.

There is only one peace which is changeless, and that is the peace of God. Any form of peace which is dependent upon or threatened by another person, our image, the body, time, material objects, circumstances or events, is subject to change or loss. This false sense of peace, like the special love it represents, will be threatened because it is invested in shifting illusions. When these dreams are threatened, then we lose our peace.

To want the peace of God is to want changeless peace. This desire is nothing less than wanting to know, not just conceptually but in Truth, What we are. This is the deepest desire to embody our divine Identity as the Holy Self.

All prayers are answered within a sincere request of the heart for the peace of God. And no prayer can be answered if it is something that we want more than the peace of God because there is nothing more than the peace of God.

In this most precious Holy Instant, when we surrender into our divine totality which God has already given us, it is available for our receiving. But it cannot be received from a state of fear or lack. If we choose to believe – to value – the errors which the body’s senses see, then we will reject the peace of God.

All prayers are answered in the Holy Instant of peace. The question is, “Are we willing to show up for it?” We won’t be willing to do this if there is something we value more than His peace.

The peace of God is holographic. It encompasses forgiveness and the Atonement, which is the divine correction of our perception from separation to union, from fear to Love. The ego’s illusory gap of fear, from which all pestilence emerges, is closed when we accept the Atonement.

My own experience has shown me that I must ask myself what it is that I want. This includes anything that I’m fearful of as well as what I believe will make me happy. For example, if I am concerned about the state of the body’s health or that of a loved one, then this choice to be concerned must be what I want more than the peace of God. Healing cannot take place while I prioritize my fear. The fear will block God’s peace in which all healing lies.

Yet if I truly long for the peace of God as my priority; if the peace of God is all I want, then this is the peace in which I accept and receive the healing. Here is the peace where all miracles dwell just quivering in divine readiness to spring forth into my awareness.

“I want the peace of God.” Jesus tells us that to say these words, is nothing. But to mean these words is everything! No one can mean these words in their heart and not be healed. We must want the peace of God and nothing but the peace of God. When this is our only “will”, the little wish to be a separate will apart from God, falls away.

Suddenly, the divine fusion of Son and Father is returned to our awareness. We are the Will of God! There is no separate wish to witness the illusion of fear any longer regardless of its wildly diverse forms. All forms are seen as the one temptation to leave the majestic Circle of Peace.

To want the peace of God above all else is to know our Self as the Will of God here in the dream. Here, we share God’s Loving dominion over all which the ego made to try to prove the separation occurred. This is where physical miracles abide in abundance. Sickness, pain, conflict, loss and even death are impossible when we live, move and have our being anchored deeply in the peace of God.

Within the dream nearly all relationships, as special relationships, are founded in fear and not in Love. Separate and private minds believe they dwell in separate bodies. Their fundamental belief is that they have different “wills,” apart from each other and from God. Each has separate and personal agendas which are not in alignment with God’s Will as our Holy Self. This is why they appear to clash and conflict causing the illusions of both victims and perpetrators.

Two false-selves join, each with self-seeking goals. The mistaken self along with its agendas is the dream of fear and separation. And because a special relationship is merely a “dream” of union apart from God – nothing in it can be shared with God. Consequently, those in special relationships imagine they share a common purpose, however because they arise from fear and not from changeless Love, they simply cannot be shared. Only a common purpose with God can be shared.

“Sometimes it takes the form of union, but only the form. The meaning must escape the dream, for compromising is the goal of dreaming. Minds cannot unite in dreams. They merely bargain. And what bargain can give them the peace of God? Illusions come to take His place.” W-185.4:2-7

On the contrary, in Holy Relationships we share the one divine intent, or truly common purpose, with Holy Spirit. If two or more sincerely join in His Name with the one desire to accept the peace of God together and nothing but the peace of God, then the whole world would be completely changed. That gives us a glimpse of just how immensely powerful this intent is.

“I want the peace of God.”… “No one can mean these words and not be healed.” … “He wants the peace of God, and it is given him. For that is all he wants, and that is all he will receive. Many have said these words. But few indeed have meant them. You have but to look upon the world you see around you to be sure how very few they are. The world would be completely changed, should any two agree these words express the only thing they want.”

“Two minds with one intent become so strong that what they will becomes the Will of God. For minds can only join in truth. In dreams, no two can share the same intent.” W-185.2:2,4-9,3:1-2

Is Fear Involuntary?

There is no order of difficulty in miracles. One is not harder or more difficult than any other. When we want only the peace of God, then within this undivided tranquility, lay the full transfer of all miracles. This is Love without fear.

Our certain safety lies in this peace while we prioritize it above all temptations to perceive otherwise.

In any one moment we perceive either through Love, or fear. There are no degrees of fear and no degrees of Love. Our perception is either grounded in Love and safe in the peace of God, or we are lost in fear. Unfortunately, through the false-self, we cannot distinguish fear from Love because nearly everything we believe is “love,” is really fear in disguise until we have advanced in our transfer of trust in God’s Love.

Love and fear are each total thought systems. They cannot meet nor be integrated in any way. The presence of one negates the other. It literally cancels it out in our awareness.

Fear is the opposite of God’s all-encompassing Love, His peace. Yet no opposite exists. Consequently, fear together with everything that comes from it – is an illusion. Fear only appears to be a real emotion.

Fear is the result of a choice to perceive without Love.

Fear is not involuntary. The only way we can feel fear is if we value it. What we believe, we indeed value and invite into our experience. And the more we defend our self from fear, the more we assign to it reality and power, strengthening it in our awareness. What we fear we end up attracting. Fear can never be mastered; however, it will disappear in the light of Love and forgiveness. Thankfully, the peace of God gently erases all fear.

If there is fear then we have placed our trust in the ego. “The presence of fear is a sure sign that you are trusting in your own strength.”  W-48.3:1

The greatest opponent to peace if there were such a thing, is fear in whatever “form” it takes. This leads me to ask a question, “What is it that I believe fear will give me which the peace of God cannot?” Ultimately, fear offers protection from peace, from the undivided union as the Holy Self. Fear is a choice to reject Love which is a refusal of our Holy Self as Love.

When we believe fear, we will mistakenly feel responsible for it; hence the egos persistent attempts to solve the illusory problems that it alone projects.  Or it tries to evade them through denial and varied distractions or addictions. In addition, by believing fear and feeling responsible for it, we end up feeling guilty for it although this may be kept from awareness.

“When you are fearful, you have chosen wrongly. That is why you feel responsible for it. You must change your mind, not your behavior, and this [is] a matter of willingness.”T-2.VI.3:2-4

Jesus explains more in the following quote:

“Fear cannot be controlled by me, but it can be self controlled. Fear prevents me from giving you my control. The presence of fear shows that you have raised body thoughts to the level of the mind. This removes them from my control, and makes you feel personally responsible for them.” T-2.VI.4:4-6

Jesus clearly states that the correction of fear is our responsibility. He cannot remove fear which is never a cause but an illusory effect. However, we can ask His help with the cause of fear…which is that we must have decided to believe we are separate from our Source as Love. Remember that fear is a result of a choice to perceive without Love. When we recognize this choice to be separate and choose to forgive it, then Jesus or Holy Spirit can indeed intervene.

The correction of fear [is] your responsibility. When you ask for release from fear, you are implying that it is not. You should ask, instead, for help in the conditions that have brought the fear about. These conditions always entail a willingness to be separate. At that level you [can] help it.”  T-2.VI.4:1-5

I am sustained exclusively by the peace of God. This means that if I still believe I am sustained primarily by illusions or “forms” of fear (body, exercise, finances, special relationships, etc), then I will resist God’s peace and Love, as my Holy Self.

In addition, those people and things that I believe rob me of peace, are values I cherish for the same reason; in order to resist God’s peace, as my Holy Self. Until these idols have been genuinely recognized and forgiven, I will use both positive and negative illusions to further prove to myself and others that we are the mortal ego-body identity, and not the immortal Holy Self.

My Holy Self is the peace of God. This state of all-inclusive peace has no opponent because it encompasses everything. There is no lack or conflict within it. There are no conflicting wishes here. Furthermore, I know that all “appearances” of conflict perceived through the body’s senses, are gently resolved within this peace.

It is beyond the polarities projected and sensed by a separate self. The peace of God transcends all judgments of good and bad.

By cherishing the peace of God above all else, I become the light that literally subsumes the darkness of the ego thought system, along with its many seemingly convincing appearances of pain and suffering.

In my singular commitment to choose to reside in the peace of God, I create the condition necessary for His Will to heal the dream of separation. Nothing is missing in the peace of God, the Holy Instant. Everything is given and received in this, the all-encompassing peace of God.

“The peace of God is everything I want. The peace of God is my one goal; the aim of all my living here, the end I seek, my purpose and my function and my life, while I abide where I am not at home.” W-205.1 (185)

Exercise – What do you want more than the Peace of God?

Make two lists. These two lists will assist to bring your desires – both the positive and negative ones – up to the light so you can ask Holy Spirit to look upon them with you. In the light of true perception, you can ask Him to reveal what is valuable and what is not. This highly effective practice accelerates the healing process.

List # 1 – Positives: is for all the things you still believe you want here in the dream. Take your time and be radically honest and specific. These may include financial security, health or a better body, romance and sex, a home, a car, etc.

List # 2 – Negatives: is comprised of those beliefs, values, people, relationships, events, circumstances, things and experiences which cause you concern or stress. They may be in the past, occurring now, or fears of the future. These are areas of un-forgiveness. This list may include unresolved factors in your own spiritual journey, or recurrent issues with a sense of unworthiness or un-forgiveness. Please be radically honest and specific.

Now, with radical self-honesty, take List # 1 and go through each of your desires, asking the following questions, and answering them:

“What do I hope to accomplish in choosing to value (believe) this __(positive or negative desire       )__more than I desire only the peace of God?” “What do I believe this __(positive or negative desire)__ will give me, more than the peace of God would bring me?”

Secondly, review your issues in List # 2 and take each one through the preceding questions again.

Jesus leaves us with a meaningful question as we look upon our two lists: “Is this what I would have, in place of Heaven and the peace of God?”

“This is the choice you make. Be not deceived that it is otherwise. No compromise is possible in this. You choose God’s peace, or you have asked for dreams. And dreams will come as you requested them. Yet will God’s peace come just as certainly, and to remain with you forever.” W-185.8:8,9:1-6

Final Step: Which of these issues, in both List # 1 and List # 2, are you willing to offer to Holy Spirit for divine re-purposing? Are there any beliefs, values or judgments which require forgiveness? Here is the forgiveness/Atonement process: https://nouksanchez.com/nouks-blog/the-seven-essential-principles-of-quantum-forgiveness/

Can you perhaps see how the ego is consumed by the delusional idea that these idols will either complete us, or destroy us? Everything we seek for here in the dream arises from some form of fear and lack. But in the peace of God, there is no fear or lack. In this peace, all is healed and complete.

We are not asked to give up that which we presently believe will give us what we want in the world. However, we are asked to give Holy Spirit our “attachment” to them. In other words, are we willing to allow Him to divinely reinterpret and re-purpose these illusions? If we don’t do this, the ego will use them all, both positive and negative illusions, for self-sabotage and attack because they represent fear-based substitutes for the peace of God as our one, shared and Holy Self.

No Self-judgment and no Guilt Trips

Until we have reached a place where we have truly endured enough inner conflict and where our determined choice for peace completely transcends all temptation to fear, we will continue to vacillate between peace and fear. However, this inconsistency can be helpful as we look upon our choices with the Holy Spirit. It is through these wild fluctuations between fear and Love that we eventually learn what is valuable and what is not. This is “contrast learning,” where we discover how to differentiate and choose between Love and fear, between the real and unreal. Holy Spirit can use every one of our temptations into fear to help us learn to value peace above all else.

Looking at it this way, perhaps we can see that all the meaningless idols we sought and defended here in the dream hide one sacred and innocent truth. In the still and glorious peace of our heart, we will behold this insight with exquisite tenderness. As we look through the Eyes of Love, we see that behind each idol we cherished for a while, lay our deepest longing to remember that we are the changeless and innocent, peace of God.

“If God is real, there is no pain. If pain is real, there is no God.”… “There is nothing in the world that has the power to make you ill or sad, or weak or frail. But it is you who have the power to dominate all things you see by merely recognizing what you are.”

“Lay down your arms, and come without defense into the quiet place where Heaven’s peace holds all things still at last. Lay down all thoughts of danger and of fear. Let no attack enter with you. Lay down the cruel sword of judgment that you hold against your throat, and put aside the withering assaults with which you seek to hide your holiness.” W-190.3:3-4,5:5-6,9:1-4
