I am being shown clearly that the body IS crucial in the undoing of our last defense against joining completely with God. This deep unconscious self-hatred fuels our attraction to physical death as that LAST defense.
The final obstacle to our complete joining in, with and as God is our FEAR OF GOD (fear of our Holy Self). This is disguised as our deeply unconscious attraction to death itself. We unknowingly use death as an escape into further amnesia. This repetitive cycle of death is the secret vow we’ve made with the ego never to allow union to call us out of separation.
To exhume our greatest secret idol, the one that is even more valuable to us than anyone we’ve ever loved including God, then perhaps you could ask yourself this question, “What do I believe is the one inevitable outcome of all life here in the dream?”
And there it is. Death! Everything is built on our belief in death. Yet if death is real there is no God (Love). And if God (Love) is real there is no death. There cannot be an opposite of God, of Life and of Love. Yet we continue to try to reconcile the irreconcilable. Our secret devotion to death underpins everything until we willingly join with God to undo our fear of Life which is our great fear of Love.
Our True purpose through forgiveness, is to awaken not just IN the dream as many masters have before, but to awaken finally FROM the dream of death/birth altogether. Jesus speaks below from The Obstacles to Peace in ACIM:
“This is the darkest veil, upheld by the belief in death and protected by its attraction. The dedication to death and to its sovereignty is but the solemn vow, the promise made in secret to the ego never to lift this veil, not to approach it, nor even to suspect that it is there. This is the secret bargain made with the ego to keep what lies beyond the veil forever blotted out and unremembered. Here is your promise never to allow union to call you out of separation; the great amnesia in which the memory of God seems quite forgotten; the cleavage of your Self from you;–[the fear of God,] the final step in your dissociation.
See how the belief in death would seem to “save” you. For if this were gone, what could you fear but life? It is the attraction of death that makes life seem to be ugly, cruel and tyrannical. You are no more afraid of death than of the ego. These are your chosen friends. For in your secret alliance with them you have agreed never to let the fear of God be lifted, so you could look upon the face of Christ and join Him in His Father.” – A Course in Miracles, T-19.IV.D.3,4.

Nouk…i was once a recovering addict following the beautiful and effective program of AA. After many years of sobriety i relapsed into drug abuse. I and my one time partner soon reinstated our addiction to meth, adding addictions to sex and violence. We worshipped death and had a death pact with one another. I have since, over a long process and many years, with the help of practicing forgiveness through my being a student of ACIM (and a lengthy prison term), been recovering from these addictions, but i can quite clearly see my attraction to death and the ego’s lies and the fear of God that keeps this intact…it is like a deep and secret craving. Ask any recovering addict, if they are far along in their recovery, they will agree with this. The End of Death makes perfect sense to me and i am reading and practicing what you put forth in your book…thank you for much clarity for i have been stuck for too long. I asked the Holy Spirit, from a deep need within, to help me, and i found your book. Once again, from the bottom of my heart…thank you Nouk!

Thank you for experiencing the darkest depths of the ego’s call to death (hell) so clearly, and then for choosing to be DONE with it once and for all. Your choice to UNLEARN your attraction to death and to embrace the LOVE that you are is healing us all. What you’re doing is on behalf of us all. As you heal…we ALL heal. If I could hug you, I would!
