From The End of Death, Volume One

Listen to the AUDIO VERSION here

NOTE: There have been many Masters in the ego’s dream who awakened IN it. However they did not awaken FROM the dream of the body entirely. They left the world through sickness, aging and death. Yet Jesus is calling us to leave the world through TRUTH which is to fully embody (in a body) our guiltlessness, and to demonstrate its invulnerability; thus we overcome our deeply hidden fear of God as our Holy Self. We will not overcome the ego’s central dream of death by dying…

Recently I was gifted with an insight, a simple analogy that gives us a tiny glimpse of the sheer magnitude of Jesus’ teaching. It was shown to me as a visual symbol, portraying the entire universal ego dream from the beginning of the separation until the end of time: An Olympic swimming pool-sized bathtub is filled to the brim with water. The water represents our universal dream of duality, encompassing the seemingly endless cycle of time, space, karma, birth and death. In short, I was given to understand the water conveys the ego’s entire dream of guilt, fear, suffering and death.

This gargantuan bathtub’s capacity to retain such a vast quantity of toxic water is made possible only by an enormous plug that holds it all in. The plug represents our unquestioned belief in death as a power greater than our own power in God. Our belief in death as an idol to be held above God, is the single obsession that holds the entire illusion of suffering in place. For, if death is real, there can be no God. Death denies Life and God.

There are many helpful spiritual teachings in the world, and they all contribute to the undoing of the dream of suffering. Yet although they may seem to teach that death is an illusion, they still believe death is the natural, legitimate and inevitable outcome of life in the ego dream. Many even justify death, attempting to integrate the two mutually exclusive and irreconcilable concepts of death and God.

Jesus’ teaching is uncompromising. He states that God is Life. Period. There cannot be God and pain, God and sickness, God and death. God is Life. And there is no opposite of God. So there cannot be life and death, unless we believe we are separate from our Source.

“If death is real for anything, there is no life. Death denies life. But if there is reality in life, death is denied. No compromise in this is possible. There is either a god of fear or One of Love… He did not make death because He did not make fear.” M-27.4:2-6,9

Jesus is asking us to learn this truth in our own experience, and to learn it now while we’re here in a body—not after the illusion of death has claimed our body, thus leading us into yet another birth cycle of amnesia. We learn this truth by choosing to forgive all illusions that seemingly hold us apart from Love.

As we commit to accomplish this, we demonstrate here and now that we are under no laws but God’s. Yet until we commit wholeheartedly, our results will be inconsistent. For, as long as we believe in a dualistic god of suffering and death, we can’t hope to know of our complete invulnerability in God’s Love—because we haven’t chosen it. Of God and death, only one is Real. There is either God or there is pain, sickness and death.

“And the last to be overcome will be death. Of course! Without the idea of death there is no world. All dreams will end with this one. This is salvation’s final goal; the end of all illusions. And in death are all illusions born. What can be born of death and still have life? But what is born of God and still can die? … Do you not see that otherwise He has an opposite, and fear would be as real as love?” M-27.6:1-8,11

As far as I know, A Course in Miracles is the only teaching that targets our unconscious attraction to death, the nucleus of our fear of God. Until we dare to examine our most terrible fear of God, which lies at the root of the death dream, the “plug of death” that keeps the universal ego dream afloat will stay firmly in place.

While many teachings other than A Course in Miracles are undeniably helpful, they do not address the nucleus of our imagined separation from God—that giant plug of death that keeps the whole ego dream alive and cycling. As a result of this omission, I was shown, they might be capable of draining the universal “bath of suffering” by a single drop every thousand years. At this pace it may take hundreds of thousands, or even millions of years to empty completely. And because we are literally all one, this means none of us will be perfectly and fully at Home until the bathtub is empty, allowing every single sleeping mind to return to sanity.

Here is the significance of Jesus’ deeper teaching as outlined in A Course in Miracles. Through His resurrection and Atonement, He has already seized that giant plug called “death,” and He has wrenched it right out of the bathtub on our behalf! And with that one action of pulling the plug, the dream of suffering has been drained away within moments.

Sure, we can choose to awaken to a level of relative peace here within the dream through many spiritual practices. Yet this relative awakening is not complete. Jesus’ unique pathway of forgiveness, Atonement and miracles is vertical. It slices straight through the horizontal time plane, collapsing it immediately. This collapse of time saves us untold suffering and many lifetimes of karma.

Jesus was the first in the long dream of separation to go beyond all prior spiritual teachings and pathways, demonstrating that there literally is no death. Not for just one of us, but for all of us.

In His resurrection and Atonement, He unraveled and released the ego’s central dream of death. And in so doing, He proved we are perfectly guiltless, and therefore wholly invulnerable Children of God. Jesus tells us here that the resurrection has already been accomplished in you. Can you sit quietly within right now, and open your heart to accept your certain healing?

“Believe in the resurrection because it has been accomplished, and it has been accomplished in you. This is as true now as it will ever be, for the resurrection is the Will of God, which knows no time and no exceptions. But make no exceptions yourself, or you will not perceive what has been accomplished for you.” T-11.VI.4:6-8

“Blessed are ye who have not seen and still believe, for those who believe in the resurrection will see it. The resurrection is the complete triumph of Christ over the ego, not by attack but by transcendence. T-11.VI.1:5-6

In overcoming death and completing the Atonement, Jesus erased our guilt, which is nothing other than our hidden fear of God. And as He accomplished this, He undid the ego’s concept of karma. As a living symbol of the one Son of God, a human being who embodied the one eternal Christ Mind we all share, Jesus went before us and made the path straight. He gifted us with the Atonement and miracles, which comprise the now-moment portal to instant healing.

When Jesus reversed the ego’s concepts of sin, guilt, fear and death through His resurrection, you were there with Him. As an eternally treasured member of the one Mind of God, your Holy Self partook in this resurrection. If you cannot accept this fact yet, it’s because you have not been ready to accept and receive your perfect healing. When you are ready, you will simply offer your acceptance and say yes to your healing.

This is what the Atonement is for. It’s a vehicle through which we accept the Truth about our self. The Atonement is already complete. All dreams have already been undone. You are simply experiencing the ego’s echo, until you wholeheartedly desire only the Love of God. When Love is all you want, Love is all you will experience.

Jesus did not die for our sins. Quite the opposite. He proved there is no sin by overcoming death, which is the ego’s most aggressive defense against God’s Love. He demonstrated the powerlessness of the ego’s most violent attack. And He rose from the ego’s dream of death to show us only in our guiltlessness and defenselessness does our true invulnerability lie.

What does the end of death mean? Jesus asked us more than 2,000 years ago to join Him in his resurrection. But we didn’t; we just weren’t ready. We were still too terrified of Love. Now, two millennia later in the illusion of time and suffering, He has gifted us with A Course in Miracles. It’s a miraculous road map designed to lead us Home to the glory of God’s Love within.

Heaven is not a place we go to. Heaven is our natural state, when guilt and death no longer remain to darken and distort our perception. Yet as long as they do, it means fear sits on our inner altar instead of Love. Jesus’ journey was the last useless journey to the cross, as His resurrection freed us from all dreams of death. He accomplished this on behalf of all of us. Are we ready to accept our eternal guiltlessness?

“Very simply, the resurrection is the overcoming or surmounting of death. It is a reawakening or a rebirth; a change of mind about the meaning of the world. It is theacceptance of the Holy Spirit’s interpretation of the world’s purpose; the acceptance of the Atonement for oneself. It is the end of dreams of misery, and the glad awareness of the Holy Spirit’s final dream. It is the recognition of the gifts of God. It is the dream in which the body functions perfectly, having no function except communication. It is the lesson in which learning ends, for it is consummated and surpassed with this. It is the invitation to God to take His final step. It is the relinquishment of all other purposes, all other interests, all other wishes and all other concerns. It is the single desire of the Son for the Father.” M-28.1.

“The resurrection is the denial of death, being the assertion of life. Thus is all the thinking of the world reversed entirely.” M-28.2:1-2

“There is no death. The Son of God is free. And in his freedom is the end of fear. No hidden places now remain on earth to shelter sick illusions, dreams of fear and misperceptions of the universe.” M-28.4:2-5
